Level of Representation

One of the three levels in accordance with the OMG theory: execution, description and expression

Introduction to the notion

In accordance with the Object Management Group (OMG) theory, Praxeme distinguishes:

  • A level of execution – where we face real things and actions
  • A level of description – the place where we find the models that describe real things
  • A level of expression – that is to say the metamodel that articulates the categories of representation we use when modeling

In practice, the modeler is often faced with difficulties that stem from the mix of levels of representation. That is the reason why we have to make this notion clear.
