Organum

The structure of this site is based on the structure known as the Organum (or Organon).

Origin

The term "Organon" refers to the collection of logical treatises attributed to Aristotle.
Also known is the Novum Organum, a philosophical work by Francis Bacon.

Definition

In the Praxeme methodology, the Organum is the underlying support which structures the whole of the corpus.
While Praxeme may be known essentially for its methodological component, other content is linked to it, such as generic models, solutions, tool considerations… The activity connected to the initiative mobilizes communities, which introduces an organizational dimension.
The Organum is the structure which envelops all these components. It is the same structure as that proposed by the method to organize project documentation. This structure has been perfected, over the years, to include all the elements handled in a project. The characteristics of the Organum are:

  • exhaustiveness and determinism (for those of you familiar with these notions, all information dealt with in a project occupies a unique place within the structure),
  • internationalism (section headings have been given Latin names, which remain unaltered in several languages – English, German, French… – although their use may be more academic in some).
